Dr. Gail Weingast grows into Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging

Throughout her 40-plus year career, Dr. Gail Weingast has spent the majority of it working in the field of radiology within medical practice. She discovered this passion early in her medicinal studies while completing a four-year residency in the specialty at Colorado General Hospital. This followed a one-year focus in pediatrics, which she swiftly learned was not for her. It was in 1976 that she graduated from Boston University’s School of Medicine -- an education that followed her attainment of a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Jackson College at Tufts University, also in Massachusetts.

Although her road to medicine and radiology did not begin conventionally, it moved into a more traditional route as Dr. Gail Weingast completed multiple internships, residencies, fellowships and additional post-graduate studies. For eight years following her completion of an M.D., she dove into various aspects of the field of medicine to hone her craft and expertise. She did so entirely in Colorado -- Colorado General Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital, respectively -- where she also began her career following the end of post-grad work in 1984.

Dr. Gail Weingast later moved to New York as a radiologist before joining William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut more than 20 years ago. She has grown in her position there, now serving as an esteemed leader and Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging.
