Gail Weingast MD, From Pediatrics to Radiology

For twenty plus years, Gail Weingast MD has worked as a radiologist, Chief of Ultrasound, and Chief of Breast imaging at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. She has worked at a plethora of other hospitals as well. These hospitals are primarily in Colorado, but some are in New York. Gail Weingast MD consistently works to better herself for her patients and the employees that she oversees.

While Gail Weingast MD is a medical doctor in the radiology field, her educational path did not follow the typical trajectory. As all medical doctors do, she received a wide variety of education. Her education started with earning her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Spanish in 1969 from Tufts University, Jackson College, Medford, MA. She then went on to earn her Degree in Medicine in 1976 from Boston University’s School of Medicine in Boston, MA.

After finishing her education, she started with an internship in the field of pediatrics from 1976-1977 at the Colorado General Hospital in Denver. Gail Weingast MD’s residency in pediatrics was performed at the same hospital over the following two years. She then tried a new field and did a residency in the radiology department from 1980 to 1983 at the Colorado General Hospital, directly followed by a fellowship in the field of Ultrasound in 1983. This is where she found her passion and began developing a career in radiology.
