Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, Gail Weingast MD

After earning her medical degree, serving in her residency as well as her fellowship, Gail Weingast MD found her niche in the medical field specialty of radiology. And after over twenty plus years, Gail Weingast MD has worked her way to Chief of Ultrasound and Chief of Breast imaging at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. She prides herself on being a doctor that works hard and is willing to go above and beyond for her patients. She continues to push herself in the field of radiology in order to better herself as well as inspire those that she leads.

The Excellent Reputation of Radiologist Dr. Gail Weingast

It is clear the path to Dr. Gail Weingast’s current position at the top of the medical profession in radiology was unplanned, at least at the beginning. Her education, for ewxample, started when futures Dr. Gail Weingast attended Jackson College at Tufts University in Massachusetts and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Obviously, medicine wasn’t a calling at first, but something inside her switched on soon, since she earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1976, which is where she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD.

As usual for doctors, that was just the start of her medical education. Dr. Gail Weingast went on to complete a pediatrics internship in 1976-1977, a residency in pediatrics in 1978 and a radiology residency in 1980-1983, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. Through that hospital, she also completed a fellowship in ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Weingast then moved over to St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver, to complete her post-graduate radiology studies in 1983-1984.

Following her education, Dr. Gail Weingast practiced at several hospitals in Colorado and also New York, before landing at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. more than two decades ago. She must have liked the fit because she is still there, working hard as a noted radiology specialist. Over the years, she has developed a strong reputation. She is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, but that’s just a title. In reality, Dr. Weingast has managed to guide her department into its current position as a premiere medical facility. Since she now has more than four decades in medicine, it is clear her knowledge and experience has led her there.

Dr. Gail Weingast Has Followed a Long Career So Far

Nowadays, Dr. Gail Weingast is best known for her steady stewardship of one of the best radiology departments in the Northeast. She is considered to be one of the most accomplished radiology specialists and she works out of William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. Her official title is Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, but she is all about accomplishments. Not that a career in medicine was decided as a teen in junior high school. In fact, when her education started in 1969, Gail Weingast attended Jackson College at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and earned her first degree, which was a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. That changed soon after, however, because she attended the Boston University School of Medicine, and earned the right to be referred to as Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976.

Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast also did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, then completed a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, after which she also completed a residency in the field of radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983, all under the guidance of Colorado General. That said, Dr. Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.

Education in hand, Dr. Gail Weingast then practiced in radiology at several other hospitals in Colorado, before heading to New York state, before she finally accepted and settled into her current position. It seems to have been a good fit, since she’s been there for more than two decades now, and she has guided her department to its current position as a premiere medical facility. She has more than four decades of knowledge and experience now, with no plans to retire soon.
