Dr. Gail Weingast Has Followed a Long Career So Far

Nowadays, Dr. Gail Weingast is best known for her steady stewardship of one of the best radiology departments in the Northeast. She is considered to be one of the most accomplished radiology specialists and she works out of William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. Her official title is Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, but she is all about accomplishments. Not that a career in medicine was decided as a teen in junior high school. In fact, when her education started in 1969, Gail Weingast attended Jackson College at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and earned her first degree, which was a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. That changed soon after, however, because she attended the Boston University School of Medicine, and earned the right to be referred to as Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976.

Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast also did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, then completed a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, after which she also completed a residency in the field of radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983, all under the guidance of Colorado General. That said, Dr. Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.

Education in hand, Dr. Gail Weingast then practiced in radiology at several other hospitals in Colorado, before heading to New York state, before she finally accepted and settled into her current position. It seems to have been a good fit, since she’s been there for more than two decades now, and she has guided her department to its current position as a premiere medical facility. She has more than four decades of knowledge and experience now, with no plans to retire soon.
