Dr. Gail Weingast Has Led the Way in the Radiology and Ultrasound Fields

Following her post-graduate studies, Dr. Gail Weingast worked at a number hospitals, mostly in Colorado, but also in New York, before she settled into her current hospital, William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and one of the most prominent radiology specialists in the country. This, despite the fact that it wasn’t entirely clear at the beginning that Gail Weingast wanted a career in medicine at all.

Gail Weingast’s first experience in higher education was earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts. It must have become clear to her soon, however, because she soon attended Boston University School of Medicine and officially became Dr. Gail Weingast way back in 1976. Following medical school, Dr. Weingast completed an internship and a residency program in pediatrics, followed by a residency in radiology and a fellowship in ultrasound under the auspices of Denver’s Colorado General Hospital. She completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist in 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver before working at hospitals in Colorado and New your, until she finally ended up at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut.
