How Dr. Gail Weingast Transformed Radiology

Her career path was somewhat different from many medical professionals, but the reality is, looking back on it, Dr. Gail Weingast wouldn’t have done anything differently if she had a chance to do it all over. Her education and career experience is what molded her and turned her into the prominent medical professional she is today. When she started her career path, it wasn’t with medicine in mind. She started college in 1969, at Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish.

It apparently didn't take long for the medical profession to beckon. She decided to attend the Boston University School of Medicine, and she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976. Following that, she completed a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, Colorado and then a pediatrics residency during the next two years and a radiology residency for the next three, all at the same hospital. She also completed a fellowship in ultrasound in 1983 from Colorado General and a post-graduate radiology degree in 1984 from St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.
