A Look at the Career of Dr. Gail Weingast, Radiologist Supreme

At first, it apparently wasn’t clear to Gail Weingast that she wanted a career in medicine, given that her first stint in higher education involved getting a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts. Not long after, however, she was a medical student at the Boston University School of Medicine, where she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976.Of course, that wasn’t the end of her medical education, not in the least. After medical school, Dr. Weingast spent completed a pediatrics internship between 1976 and 1977 and a residency program in pediatrics over the next two yearsat Colorado General Hospital in Denver.

She followed that by completing a residency in radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in ultrasound in 1983, also at Colorado General. Dr. Gail Weingast finally completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. She worked at several other hospitals in Colorado, but also in New York, before she finally settled into her current hospital, where she has been for more than 20 years.

Currently, Dr. Gail Weingast can be found at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging.
