Radiant Horizons: Dr. Gail Weingast's Enduring Medical Journey

Over four decades ago, Dr. Gail Weingast embarked on an extraordinary journey in the medical field. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University, she pursued further education at Boston University’s School of Medicine, graduating in 1976. This marked the initiation of a dynamic and impactful career in medicine.

Dr. Weingast's early years in the medical profession were characterized by significant growth in practical experience and specialized knowledge. She refined her skills at two distinguished hospitals in Denver, Colorado: Colorado General Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital. During her tenure at these institutions, Dr. Weingast completed an extensive range of training, including a one-year internship in pediatrics, a four-year residency in radiology, a yearlong fellowship in ultrasound, and two years of advanced post-graduate studies. While her interest in pediatrics was substantial, it was ultimately the field of radiology that became her primary professional focus and area of expertise.

Since concluding her post-graduate studies in 1984, Dr. Weingast has been a crucial contributor to the field of radiology. Her career has spanned multiple hospitals in Colorado, New York, and Connecticut. In Connecticut, she has dedicated almost two decades of her career, continuously evolving in her role. Her most recent and notable achievement is her position as Chief of Breast Imaging at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
